About Us

David Jacobson

I was born and raised in Santa Cruz. I started working construction building custom homes when I was in high school. I took a welding class when I was 16 at Cabrillo College. I worked with stairway companies in the 80’s. I then joined the ironworkers union and did structural steel, stairs, and rails for several years. A co-worker turned me on to some cool blacksmith tricks. Since then I’ve been combining blacksmithing into my work. This dramatically improved my railing skills. I went to a blacksmith hammer-in and watched a Japanese bladesmith make a knife, I was fascinated. And guess what my new hobby is? Knifemaking. it’s the ultimate steel fabricating skill.

I do most of my work on residential homes, railing, gates, lighting, misc. furniture. All my work is hand forged, scrolls, leaves, knuckles ect. I can use some catalog parts if necessary. I work with mild steel, stainless steel, brass, bronze, silicon bronze, and aluminum. Small stuff I can ship out. Big jobs should be within 50 miles from Santa Cruz California.

I hope I can help you with your project.
